Richard E. Francis, Jr.
Mr. Francis has served as Chairman of the Board since March 2002 and as Chief Executive Officer and a Director of Symbion since its inception in 1999. Prior to the formation of Symbion, Mr. Francis served as President and Chief Executive Officer of UniPhy, an operator of multi-specialty clinics, independent practice associations (IPAs) and related outpatient services. Earlier in his career, he was the Senior Vice President of Development for HealthTrust, where he also served as a Regional Vice President with responsibility for the operations of 11 hospitals in five states.
